You will need

• Scissors - normal and precision

• Sharp razor       

• Small foam brush                                              

• Tweezers

• WATER-BASED gloss and matte clear coat (any other type of clear coat will melt the film, only use water-based clear coat spray) MINWAX POLYCRYLIC, KRYLON LOW ODER CLEAR, and BELTECO CRYSTAL CLEAR have been tested safe

• (Decal setting solution is not needed)

Decal Application Protocol

1. Do NOT clear coat the decal sheet. It is laser printed, so leaking ink is not a concern. 

2. Clean model of dust and debris. A smooth, glossy, and dry surface is ideal for decal application. A glossy surface makes it easier to adjust the decal on the model before it dries, so a clear spray on the model may be advised prior to starting your decal application. .

3. Cut out decals as close to the design shape as possible. The less excess clear film will make a better fit. 

4. Dip foam brush lightly into the water and use it to wet the area of the model where the decal will be applied.

5. Use tweezers to dip and hold your decal underwater, the paper will curl up so face it downward so it lays flat on the bottom of your water bowl until the curling relaxes naturally. Usually 10-30 seconds depending on the size.

6. The decal should now slide easily on the paper but not fully separate. Lay your wet decal over the area to apply, with one finger hold down one side of the decal, and with your other hand, pull the paper out from below the film from the other direction. Decal film should be on the model, discard paper. 

7. Use tweezers to adjust the decal to its precise position, and use the foam brush to lightly rub the top of the decal to remove excess water, flatten any wrinkles, and conform to surface shapes. Let it fully dry overnight.

8. Once the model is dry, spray with WATER BASED semi gloss to bring everything to the same sheen.
